DC Solicits!

Things I love – solicits. I like spoilers, I like speculation, and I like discussing things. I probably even like flailing about and worrying about what is going to happen to my favorites, because I’m going to do it anyway when the books come out, so I should probably prolong the experience.

So, thoughts on the DC July solicits! I mean, if I went to the trouble of getting this blog thing, I should probably actually use it, right?

Booster Gold #22: “Day of Death” part 2! Booster Gold travels back in time to prevent the Black Beetle from killing the New Titans, but who will save Booster Gold from the Black Beetle — and what role will Deathstroke play?

And in the all-new Blue Beetle co-feature, Jaime must battle a flying robot army from destroying all of the people in El Paso!

All I really have to say about that is WANT.

Super Friends #17: Fiddle-de-dee! The Super Friends celebrate Independence Day with a time-travel trek! The teams set off to meet the greatest heroes they can imagine – the Founding Fathers!

Possibly there is a reason I’m enjoying the DC kids line so much. This may be why. This possibly might top the Batman has to pretend to be president & Ollie is his secret service bodyguard issue as the greatest thing ever.

Superman/Batman #62: When the inmates take over Arkham Asylum, it’s a job for the World’s Finest duo – Robin and Supergirl!

*FLAIL* I love Bat and Super team-ups. And Tim and Kara should totally hang out more. They can bond over Kon. Or discuss how Cassie is less crazy now that she’s not hanging out with either of them. Or really just beat up bad guys. I’m okay with that too.

Titans #15: Prelude to BLACKEST NIGHT: TITANS! Tempest returns! And how will his arrival affect the Titans? The last page not only answers this question, but will have fans buzzing.

GARTH! GARTH GARTH GARTH. Um. Look. I love Garth. Okay, I love all the Titans. But Garth! He’s fabulous! So I am always glad to see him. I am especially glad to see that he appears to have his powers back, because that last arc in Aquaman was bad. (Yes, I read it. I am possibly the only one on the planet who did. But Garth was in it. And I have a very high tolerance for bad comics.) So I’m hoping he has his mystical stuff back, and also the ability to breathe water. But so help me, if they bring him back as a Black Lantern, I will be annoyed. Because he’s already returned TWICE since he died, and well, there are enough dead Titans already.

Things I’ve learned from the solicits:

1-There is probably only one Batman after Battle for the Cowl. I’d seen some speculation that maybe the Batman in Winick’s book wasn’t going to be the same Batman as in Morrison’s book, but the solicit for Winick’s book mentions training the new Robin. So either we have two of each, Damian is training with both Batmans, or there’s only one Batman and he shows up in both books. I’ll go with option 3.

2-For some reason DC is putting out an Amazons Attack trade. Why?

3-Considering Steph (STEPH!) is showing up in Red Robin, Red Robin had better be Tim. Of course, when I say things like this I will probably be disappointed, because I would have sworn to you that Kon would have been the new Nightwing. (I am still annoyed that he’s not. But teasing like that with the TTK and the calling him kid was just unfair.)

4-Apparently murderous forces are targeting Bart Allen. I just got him back, DC, don’t do this to me AGAIN.

5-Tiny Titans remains the cutest book ever.

6-Apparently Ravager has a drug problem. I hope that Roy is her sponsor when she goes into rehab.

Your squee and enthusiasm are always contagious, even though I’m not reading anything you’re talking about here.

(Well, except for Tiny Titans. Last month, it had BUNNIES!)

  2. Teh Jenn says:

Your squee and excitement for the DC solicits is so much fun!

I want Ollie to fo back in time and call the founding fathers fat cats.

  3. Carolyn says:

Yeah, I’m really excited for that Superfriends book too. Somehow I’m reading a LOT of kiddie books these days…

  4. Margot says:

    @Jen BUNNIES. Yes!

@Jenn Ollie totally needs to call the founding fathers fat cats. Now I’m trying to decide which one would be his favorite. (He would probably be torn between yelling at them about slavery or thanking them for coming up with our fine democracy. Or yelling at them for not being more clear on certain things. But there would probably be yelling.)

@Carolyn The DC kids line is made of joy and win. That would be why. 😀
